City Held To Their Fifth Consecutive Draw
Manchester City were the first to concede when a cross took Lescott’s hand and the referee awarded Burnley with a penalty kick. Given was required to save the second penalty in many games but it was not to be and Alexander put Burnley on top. Almost 15 minutes later, Burnley doubled their lead when Stephen Fletcher put the ball in the back of the net. Manchester City pulled one back just before half-time when a shot from Shaun Wright-Phillips took a deflection from the Burnley defender and ended up in the net.
The second half began well for Manchester City and at 55 minutes, Kolo Toure scored at the far post as Burnley failed to defend a free kick from Barry. City equalized. Just three minutes later, Ireland found SWP who passed it to Bellamy and City had the lead. Petrov replaced Tevez in the 73rd minute but there was no goal in the match for almost half and hour but Kevin McDonald tapped home an 87th-minute equaliser to give Burnley a share of the spoils at Manchester City.
Mark Hughes and the team will be deeply disappointed with their performance as it is their 5th draw in a row.
